Tony Robbins is a giant, both literally and figuratively. He’s almost 7 feet tall. And today at the age of 57 years old, he’s become the most famous and successful motivational speaker ever.
His self help career began when he volunteered at the seminars of Jim Rohn, a classic success speaker. Many of his early ideas were adapted from NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) techniques he learned from Richard Bandler and John Grinder.
Soon he was speaking at his own seminars and courses. But his fame and success really came from infomercials. His infomercials were running non-stop in the 90s, featuring Tony riding a helicopter to his castle. That’s right, who needs a house? Tony Robbins lived in a castle. He also now owns a private resort on an island in Fiji where he runs some of his personal growth courses.
Tony Robbins net worth is probably around $500 million, according to reliable sources like Time and Business Insider.
In 2016, the documentary “I Am Not Your Guru” was released, which is probably the best look you can get inside Tony’s intense live courses. Listening to Tony’s podcast is another great way to hear Tony’s most recent ideas.
Tony created a goal setting process called RPM or Rapid Planning Method. It’s about asking yourself the questions “what do I want?” then “why do I want it?” and finally “how do I get there?” and it’s important you ask the questions in that order. Knowing what you really really want will give you the power to do the work to get there. Tony believes if you have a powerful enough WHY, then you will find HOW to get there. But if you don’t know WHY you’re working, then your focus will easily get distracted by other people’s agendas.
Tony Robbins also coaches people about living healthy. His unique diet and weight loss ideas often contradict a lot of mainstream health advice. (Which isn’t a bad thing. After all, for years all the authorities were telling us to follow the debunked USDA food pyramid.)
